Sunday April 30 Hike & Paint on Woppa (Great Keppel Island)

Sunday April 30 Hike & Paint on Woppa (Great Keppel Island)

**Date postponed to Sunday April 30, 8:30am- 2:30pm

We will start the morning gathered on the grass at the Hideaway where we will ground into our unique intention, our own personal reason for attending the expedition. Jules will lead a very short intention setting practice in our new visual diaries, give thanks on behalf of the group and run through what should be expected for the day.

As we set off down the beach we will be in the capable and confident hands of artist, teacher and ex Park Ranger Julianne Holland as she guides us through the stunning coastal scrub landscape. We will be encouraged to get curious about our natural surroundings with plenty of opportunity to stop and investigate the local flora & fauna, bush tucker, and wildflowers.

We will settle at the first of two planned lookout points with the opportunity to dip our toes in the water or jump in for a full dip before we get comfortable in a shady spot and settle in for some creative fun. Jules will take us through some easy instructions and tips on how to create a beautiful watercolour seascape painting and the different techniques you can use to create different effects.

We will enjoy our deliciously healthy and filling packed lunch before heading off to our next beautiful vista. On this hike we will walk over an ancient aboriginal midden, a great opportunity to learn more about the indigenous history of the first Australians and true custodians of WOPPA (great Keppel island), the Woppaburra People.

This workshop is designed for participants to relax and have fun, Jules’ extensive experience in field guiding, conservation and tourism, combined with her many years of teaching art and creative workshops will help you feel at ease and well taken care of. Be prepared for lots of laughs and new friends made!

En plein air is a French expression meaning “in the open air”, and refers to the act of painting outdoors with the artist's subject in full view. Plein air artists capture the spirit and essence of a landscape or subject by incorporating natural light, color and movement into their works. Students will be gently guided to discover their own painting style in a relaxed inclusive and friendly atmosphere.

You will learn that Plein Air Painting and drawing is a relaxing and incredibly rewarding art form. All painting supplies are provided including your own Plein Air painting kit to take home which includes an A5 visual diary, watercolour paint set, graphite pencils, brushes & charcoal in a carry bag.

Lunch is included which will consist of gourmet sandwiches, healthy trail bars and fruit.
